PAKSEANA holds 3rd Annual Eid Milan Family Dinner

Pakistan Steel Ex-employees Association of North America held its 3rd Annual Eid Milan Family dinner at Erindale Secondary School Auditorium on Saturday, 24th September, 2011.  The function was attended by a large number of full members and associate members of the association and their families. In addition to the Chief Guest of the event, His Excellency, Mr. Sahibzada A. Khan, Consul General of Pakistan in Toronto, other dignitaries like Mr. Harinder Takhar MPP., and Mr. Dil Muhammad, businessman and Social Worker, graced the occasion. A large number of sponsors of the event also attended the dinner.

He also shed some light on the performance of the association during the past one year.nayer

Mr. Nayer Wasti, President, Pakseana, in his address to the gathering, recapped the basic functions and
objectives of the
association. He also read out the messages specially sent out by Director BMR&E Pakistan Steel, Mr. Pervez Iqbal and Director (Technical Services) Pakistan Steel, Mr. Shahid Asghar.  These messages appreciated the work done by the Pakseana association and also included appeals for prayers for the difficult situation being faced by
Pakistan Steel and by Pakistan as a whole

khanThe Chief Guest, Sahibzada A.Khan, in his speech, appreciated the efforts of

Pakseana in bringing the ex-employees of Pakistan Steel and their families together

and said that this interaction in the community would have a positive influence on

the youth and children of the associates and members of Pakseana.

Local MPP, Mr. Harinder Takhar also praised the efforts of Pakseana

in bringing this section of the community together and for arranging such

events for the interaction of the youth and older members of the community. A leading figure in Social Work and a prominent businessman, Mr. Dil Mohammad,

also talked about the unity and cooperation between different segments of the Pakistani community. He also praised Pakseana’s role in relief efforts from time

to time, such as flood relief and earthquake relief campaigns in the past.  He appreciated the efforts of General Secretary Pakseana, Mr. Muhammad Ashfaq,

who has been very active in such campaigns on behalf of Pakseana.

As was the case at last year’s Annual Family Gathering, Pakseana also gave out awards and certificates to the children of its members and associates, who had made outstanding achievements in the educational field and in extra curricular activities.  These awards and certificates were handed out by the Chief Guest Sahibzada A. Khan.


Just like last year, this year too Pakseana brought out a souvenir magazine to commemorate the occasion.  The publishing of the souvenir magazine was made possible due to the relentless efforts of Media Officer Pakseana, Mr. Sardar Asghar, in compiling and designing the magazine and through the tremendous efforts of other committee members like Mr. Muhammad Ashfaq, Mr. Khalid Mahmood, Mr. Muhammad Ejaz (Paslu) and Mr. Muhammad Ejaz, in collecting advertisements from the various sponsors of the event.

The souvenir magazine consisted of messages of support from the Chief Guest, His Excellency Sahibzada A. Khan, Consul General of Pakistan in Toronto, Mr. Wasif Mahmood, CEO Pakistan Steel, and Mr. Ansar Nabi, Secretary Pakistan Steel.   The magazine also has some interesting articles contributed by various authors; some pictures of last year’s event and of course, advertisements from the various sponsors who have been kind enough to support Pakseana’s efforts for the event


Following the distribution of awards and certificates and the chief guest’s address, the gathering participated in a sumptuous dinner and after dinner, there was a musical program with live music and singing by vocalist Tanvir Badar.  The gathering enjoyed the entertainment till late in the evening.
