Pakistan Steel Ex-employees Association of North America had their 2nd Annual Eid-Milan Family Dinner on Saturday Sept. 18 at the ISNA Gymnasium hall in Mississauga. This was a gathering of around 250 people consisting of Associate members and their families. Prominent diplomatic, cultural, political, and literary dignitaries graced the occasion with their presence amidst the members of the association.
The guests included chief guest, Mr. Syed Akbar Adil Shah, Consular for community welfare and development, Pakistan Consulate in Toronto, Mr. Charles Sousa, MPP, famous Poets and literary figures, Mr. Ashfaq Hussain (ATN fame) and Mr.Nazimuddin Maqbool, Mr. Sohail Siddiqui (Marketing Manager, Canadian Asian News) . All the guests spoke about the efforts the community in general had made in the Flood Relief drive to collect funds and food for the victims of the recent floods in Pakistan.
The guests appreciated the efforts Pakseana had made in collecting and sending to Pakistan (via PIA) more than 600 food boxes, each containing food enough to feed 4 persons, as such providing foodstuffs for 2400 persons.
The Pakseana executive committee also acknowledged the services of Mr. Ashfaq Hussain in community development by awarding him a plaque in appreciation of his work.

While Pakseana acknowledged and gave away awards to the children of the members who had made outstanding academic achievements, the sponsors, Zahid Syed of Urooj Financial & Insurance Ltd, Mr. Tahir Qureshi of City Pro Realtor, and Sajjad Syed of Primerica also chipped in with a lucky draw prizes to make the event very interesting.
Mr. Asghar Sadiq of Nest Egg Preservers Group Ltd., who is also an ex-employee of Pakistan Steel and a member or Pakseana, remained as usual the principal sponsor of the event.
PAKSEANA also conducted a Flood Relief Raffle on this occasion and collected a substantial amount from the gathering for flood relief victims in Pakistan. A valuable raffle prize was drawn and given to one of the people who bought the raffle ticket. Pakseana also brought out a Souvenir Magazine to commemorate the occasion. The magazine consisted of ads from the sponsors of the event and some articles and poems from various sources and it was very well appreciated.
All of this was followed by a sumptuous dinner which everyone found delightfully delicious! After dinner there was a magic show which was enjoyed by all the kids.
All in all, it was a fun evening and an enjoyable get-together for the families.
